RECREATION CLASSES

SCOTTISH STICK

Learn Celtic European Broadsword Okinawa Shito-Ryu Karate. Students can earn rank in the Bailey Academy of Celtic Marshal Arts. This class is a well-rounded introduction of both techniques. Instructor Douglas Bailey is a member of the Northwest Historical Fencing Alliance. This class is 9 weeks.

KENPO KARATE- Ages 6+

Learn self defense skills in a martial arts system originating hundreds of years ago in China. Kenpo karate will teach you physical and mental self-defense skills which are both usable and practical. Technical skills will include situations, ju-jitsu holds, ground skills, balance and coordination drills and relaxation exercises. Uniform information will be provided at the first class. Uniforms are optional. Private sessions with personal trainer are available for an additional fee. Schedule with instructor.

Nine group lessons.
 

 YOUTH KUMITE (Sparring) (6 and up)

This class may be added following the Youth Kenpo Karate Class. Cost of class is $45 (special equipment is required for safe participation please see instructor for information). Students must be enrolled in Kenpo Karate to take Kumite.

Skyhawks sports programs emphasize fundamental skill development by utilizing small group activities in a fun and positive environment. With small coach-to-participant ratios, each child is guaranteed personal attention. This program teaches players skills required for success in youth baseball. Each coaching applicant is carefully screened by Skyhawks prior to employment. All staff members have successfully completed a personal interview as well as a classroom training session. All Skyhawks staff have demonstrated the ability to communicate with young athletes on an eye-to-eye level.

Baseball participants must bring:

• Baseball/Softball glove (please have your name and telephone number marked on your glove).

• T-shirt/shorts/sweats/socks (i.e. appropriate clothing).

• Lunch, Snack & Water Bottle (for programs over four hours).

• Two Snacks & Water Bottle (for programs four hours or less)

• Shoes (running shoes are fine)

• Sunscreen

 Tribal Dance

A community based style - a fusion of urban, folk, and ritual dances, based on the ancient art of belly dance! Influenced by dances of North Africa, the Middle East, India and Spain. Esthetically pleasing, spiritually grounding, physically rewarding- this is a shared celebration of women! Taught by Gypsy Caravan. This is an 8-week class.
