As a young adult, Jan discovered printmaking as a natural extension of drawing. She loved the process and enjoyed the advantage of multiples. Jan’s work was influenced by Dürer, Schöngauer, and Blake when she was a student of Roger Hull, Carl Hall, and Robert Hess at Willamette University. She deepened her appreciation of these printmakers on a trip to Copenhagen where she studied the originals in the print archives.
